Michele reports on her great progress so far with Everbank (Wholesale Closing Department), The Kroom Family, and Wade Haynes. Thanks Michele and Rachel for being our Messengers!
This in from Rachel, our Super Messenger:
“I received these messages from a friend of mine. Thought I’d put them together and get a picture for you. I’ll be placing these messages in empty bottles today!”
These super cool messages are from Mrs. Janzens American History 7th Grade Gifted Class at Fernandina Beach Middle School. Thanks everyone!
It’s time to start building the wall. The bottles are in and we have less than 2 months to get things done. More later on the design. I’ve been working on a few different ideas and finally settled on one that incorporates a 66″ x 66″ wrap-around frame for each wall segment. This will make it easier to build, setup, and install. My art partner-in-crime Dolf James let me use his table saw to rip some 2x4s, but as you can see he took control. Maybe he didn’t want to risk having me lose a body part. Thanks Dolf, we’ve got about 25 more of these to make. It’s going to be cool!
Here is Jim Smith, fellow artist and longtime teacher of the arts at Bolles. Jim arranged to have several clubs collaborate to collect bottles with messages. This was totally done by the students…no teacher prodding here. A great effort and welcome addition to the wall. Thanks Jim and all the students who participated.
My friend Rachel has been busy collecting from neighbors, schools, churches and her husband Brian’s 125th Fighter Wing squadron at the Jacksonville airport. We appreciate this kind of participation and your heroic service! Keep the bottles coming…please!
We had 2 deliveries at the studio today, one from Mike who has been collecting from work and his neighbors, the other from Amy and her 2 girls whose husband was a Marine. She saw the project on First Coast Living and decided to save bottles at home. Nice going everyone, the wall is growing everyday!
Today we received a very special card…wow, we are so grateful!
